Bouldering in Mogán

Mogán is the heart of bouldering in Gran Canaria, a sun-drenched barranco in the southwest of the island where hundreds of basalt boulders line a quiet valley. The volcanic rock offers a style all its own — huecos, textured walls and compact caves that reward creative movement and precise footwork. With over 500 problems from 5A to 8B+ and a particularly rich offering in the mid-grades, there is something for every level, though the uneven landings across many sectors mean extra crash pads are always a good call.

What makes Mogán stand out is its reliability. From October to April, temperatures hover around 10–20°C and rain is almost unheard of, making it one of Europe's safest bets for winter bouldering. While the rest of the continent deals with cold and wet rock, here you can climb comfortably in a t-shirt with the Atlantic breeze in the background. Direct flights to Las Palmas connect from most European cities, and a short drive south is all it takes to reach the crag. For anyone chasing quality rock and guaranteed conditions during the off-season, Mogán is hard to beat.
